Let’s Dance

Sparkle Talk: ANNA CORONEO

Today I am so excited to introduce you to designer and artist Anna Coroneo. I was lucky enough to steal some time from my recent sparkle crush to talk about her journey and what sparkles up her world.

The first time I stumbled across her designs they instantly made me feel ‘oh SO happy’ and ready to dance through the streets. Her designs are playful, yet bold and intense, and definitely captivating. I’m in love with everything from her gorgeous print silk scarves to her sexy stationary. Born in beautiful Sydney, Australia, the designer spends most of her time between London and New York these days. Of course one happy place we already share — the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk.

(When, how, why did you get the idea for your business ANNA CORONEO — did you always want to be an artist?)

As a little girl, I spent a lot of time with my grandmother, Mary Souris, who was an incredibly talented dress-maker. She introduced me to fashion and taught me all about fabrics and sewing from a very young age. She is turning ninety this year and we still love to discuss fashion, fabrics, trends and ideas together.

I had always wanted to have my own business and I started first selling my designs at the bondi beach sunday markets, when I was eighteen.

You divide your time between London and NYC, how often do you travel back and forth and how do you make it work?

I’m in New York and London each month. I’m fortunate to keep homes and offices in both cities and I have a wonderful team and an encouraging family.

(thoughts on success)

Original ideas, confidence, hard work, persistance, passion, compassion, commitment and always being true to one’s self, I feel are imperative elements to being successful.

I also think that it’s important to strike a balance between art and commerce – to pay attention to detail and quality whilst being flexible, intuitive, resourceful, forward thinking, strategic and pragmatic.
